Mind - Agility
Be bold! There’s an interesting intersection between presence and courage. You don’t have to jump out of a plane to feel and experience the effects of acting courageously. Pulling yourself out of negative thought patterns requires courage. Crawling out of a dark night of the soul requires courage—and that courage can look like simply reengaging with the world in the form of saying hello to a stranger.
And so, the mental prompt this week is to do the thing. Do one bite-sized courageous thing a day for a week, and journal about how it made you feel. See if it shifts your perspective about your own views of yourself and your capabilities. See how, if at all, it effects your sense of self-worth. Why not? You don’t have to be perfect at the thing, or make it your whole personality. Take that pressure off of yourself and enjoy the little burst of growth that inevitably follows taking a small risk.
Body - Burpees
Signed up for strength and conditioning + boxing classes. Mostly to try something new, partially because punching it out seems like it will be a solid addition to my life lol.
I had more fun than I expected to, which has reinforced the urge I’ve got to add more of these types of things back into my life. Perhaps my next endeavor will be finally going to physical therapy for my ancient knee injuries. Prompt is to sign up for a trial class!
Spirit - Silliness
When in doubt, stop taking whatever it is so seriously. If there’s anything I’ve learned since the top of this year it’s this—the fastest remedy for distress is laughter. Do a silly dance, talk in an accent, listen to a comedy special, text your friend is ridiculous meme. Life is too short to allow ourselves to stay stuck in malaise—laugh TODAY, and save the tears for a time when it makes sense, lol. And so, the prompt this week is to try to make someone who needs a pick-me-up, giggle. More points will be rewarded if you evoke a full belly laugh.
